CENTER VALLEY, Pa. -
Less than a week removed from cracking the Patriot League's top 10 for career kills, senior co-captain Ariana Mankus picked up her third Molten Patriot League Player of the Week honors of the season on Monday afternoon.
A three-time All-League pick, this marks Mankus' seventh career Patriot League Player of the Week nod.
Mankus recorded 12 kills in a pair of 3-0 wins last week and hit for a .317 percentage overall. The Lisle, Ill., native averaged 4.00 kills per set and 3.00 digs per set, recording her 16th and 17th double-digit kill matches of the year, respectively. Army defeated both Manhattan and Holy Cross by 3-0 scores on Wednesday and Saturday, respectively.
With her fourth kill against Manhattan, Mankus entered the league's top 10 for career kills. She has since ascended to seventh place with 1,471 kills, which also lands second on Army's career ledger. Mankus broke into the Patriot League top 10 for career digs earlier this season and is one of three players in program history to reach the century mark in both killsand digs.
The Black Knights will play for a Patriot League tournament berth next Friday, Nov. 2, at current league-leader Colgate. Army looks to avenge a 3-1 loss to the Raiders earlier this season in a match set to begin a 6 p.m. at Cotterell Court. The Black Knights visit Bucknell on Saturday at 5 p.m.
