The Army women's tennis team will travel north to take on Cornell in a nonconference match on Wednesday, March 26. The match will be contested at Cornell's Reis Tennis Center with a scheduled start time of 4:30 p.m.
In its last outing on March 23, Army (16-1) notched a 7-0 victory over Colgate to extend its winning streak to nine matches. The Black Knights won all six singles matches in straight sets, including senior Jamila Paul (No. 1) and sophomore Carolyn Pitman (No. 2), who posted wins of 6-1, 6-1 and 6-3, 6-3, respectively. Senior Della Taylor, junior Elle Taylor, sophomore Gabriella Spindler and freshman Nancy Porter also picked up singles decisions.
In doubles action, the Taylor sisters registered an 8-5 victory at the No. 1 position, while the pairings of Paul and Pitman and Porter and senior Carly Riney also came away with wins.
Pitman (11) and Paul (10) each have double-digit singles wins in dual match action, while freshman Allyson Hayley and Della and Elle Taylor all have eight singles victories.
Cornell (6-3) is coming off a 4-3 victory over Binghamton on March 22. In the match, senior Shannon Comolli, sophomore Dena Tanenbaum and freshman Marika Cusick all picked up victories in singles competition, while Comolli and Tanenbaum also contributed to wins in doubles play.
Following Wednesday, Army will return to the court on Friday, March 28 when it splits its team to play home against Manhattan and on the road at Lehigh. Both matches on Friday are scheduled for 2 p.m.
