WEST POINT, N.Y. - The Army women’s tennis team looks to keep its perfect record after picking up three victories against Binghamton, Sacred Heart and Seton Hall last weekend. The Black Knights will once again play host to three teams this weekend at Lichtenberg Tennis Center starting with Stony Brook on Friday (3 p.m.), Connecticut on Saturday (1 p.m.) and Fordham on Sunday (1 p.m.).

This weekend’s competition will close out six-straight home matches for the Black Knights, before the team travels to Amherst, Mass., on Feb. 15.

Freshman Nan Porter and junior Elle Taylor both registered three-set victories in singles play over the weekend. Porter’s stand out performance came from a three-set victory on Friday versus Binghamton’s Annie DiMuro. Play opened in Porter’s favor as she took a 7-6 (4) win in the first set, but lost to DiMuro, 3-6 in the second. Porter closed out the day winning the third and final set, 10-6.

Taylor who went up against Seton Hall’s Madison Shoemaker in the fifth flight won opened the first set with a 6-3 triumph, but fell to Shoemaker in the second set, 2-6. Fighting for the set and match, Taylor pulled out with an 18-16 win to help Army defeat the Pirates on Saturday morning.

In doubles play, Army proved themselves as strong competitors winning seven of nine total matches.

This weekend’s competition marks the first dual play for Stony Brook. The last time the Black Knights went up against the Seawolves was in 2012, in which Army won 4-3.

Connecticut enters the weekend boasting a 1-1 overall record. The Huskies fell to Massachusetts (4-3) and beat Quinnipiac (5-2) in their only dual competition this past October.

Fordham comes to West Point sporting a 2-0 record, with victories over Manhattan (7-0) in Sept. and Fairfield (5-2) this past weekend.
