STONY BROOK, N.Y. - Senior co-captain Erin Colton and junior All-Patriot League performer Jamila Paul fell just short in a back-and-forth 9-7 decision against Jordan Brewer and Gabby Delvin of Amherst in Sunday morning's Flight A doubles final at the Stony Brook Classic.

Paul and Colton barreled through the top flight bracket until meeting Brewer and Delvin, both of whom earned NCAA Division III All-America plaudits a year ago. Colton and Paul defeated teams from Navy, Long Island and Amherst throughout the weekend.

Not only did the pair enjoy a standout effort in doubles play, both advanced to the semifinal round of the top singles flight as well.

Also highlighting singles play, freshman Kelly Daniel enjoyed an outstanding weekend in which the Zeeland, Mich., native played for the Flight E singles title. Daniel downed players from Navy, Marist and Amherst before falling in straight sets (6-4, 6-2) to Stony Brook junior Lisa Setyon in Sunday's championship match.

Team co-captain Larraine Saavedra (Flight C) and freshman Eva Sung (Flight D) both advanced to the semifinal match of their respective flights before being eliminated late Saturday.

Army makes its home debut next weekend, hosting the West Point Invitational at Malek Courts.
