WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army women’s tennis swept a pair of Patriot League opponents Friday on its home courts of Malek and Lichtenberg Tennis Centers. The Black Knights knocked off Lafayette, 7-0, on the outdoor courts, before heading inside to hand Holy Cross a 7-0 defeat. The wins stretch Army’s conference winning streak to 53 matches, including 11 consecutive shutouts, heading into Saturday’s regular-season finale.

The Black Knights (18-6, 4-0) sacrificed a combined seven games to the Leopards (4-8, 0-3 PL), with three of those points coming in the No. 3 doubles match. Army collected 10 shutout sets against Lafayette, including three by sophomore Jamila Paul.

Paul teamed with junior co-captain Erin Colton at No. 2 doubles to defeat Amanda Kusnierz and Katherine Charchalis, 8-0, before dispatching Jordyn Spellberg, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 2 singles. Paul continues to have the hot hand for the Black Knights, as the victory over Spellberg was the reigning Patriot League Player of the Month’s 11th straight win.

Against the Crusaders (10-3, 0-1 PL), Army swept all three doubles contests with 8-0 decisions, including the second of the night by Della Taylor and Elle Taylor. The pair improved their team-best record to 24-10, including 16-7 in duals.

Freshman Natalie Allen earned a pair of singles victories, topping LC’s Amanda Kusnierz, 6-0, 6-0, and HC’s Taylor Stathis, 6-0, 6-1. The victories bumped her to 25-7 on the year to rank tied for seventh all-time on Army’s single-season wins list.

The Black Knights improved their all-time mark against Lafayette to 17-10, including nine straight 7-0 sweeps. Against Holy Cross, Army bumped its record to 15-2, shutting the Crusaders out in seven of their last eight matchups.

Army will wrap up its regular season tomorrow when Patriot League foe Bucknell travels to West Point. The Black Knights and Navy stand atop the conference standings with undefeated records.
