WEST POINT, N.Y. - Army women's tennis rebounded from its season-opening loss in convincing fashion on Friday night, topping a pair of regional foes at Lichtenberg Tennis Center. The Black Knights defeated Binghamton, 5-2, before edging Sacred Heart, 4-3.

Army (2-1) swept all six doubles matches on the night, which proved to be the tipping point for the Black Knights against Sacred Heart. The sisterly duo of freshman Elle Taylor and sophomore Della Taylor accounted for two of those doubles victories. The Taylor sisters knocked off Jillian Santos and Taylor Hollander of Binghamton (0-1), 8-1, before defeating the Pioneers' (1-2) Kate Donnelly and Kristina Chao, 8-4.

The Taylors have totaled a team-best 10-4 record this season. The 10 wins together are twice as many as any other Army doubles team in 2011-12.

Freshman Natalie Allen also added to her growing win total by earning a pair of singles victories. Allen improved to 10-5 this season with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep of Binghamton's Emma Leibowicz at No. 6, and a 6-2, 6-0 edging of SHU's Gabi Kaldan at No. 1. The Shoreline, Wash., native leads the Black Knights in singles wins this season.

The win over the Bearcats halted BU's winning streak against the Black Knights. Binghamton came to West Point winning the two most recent meetings between the regional foes. Army improved its all-time record against the Bearcats to 13-6.

Against Sacred Heart, the Black Knights improved to 3-0 all-time, winning a dual match in each of the past three seasons.

Army's homestand will continue tomorrow morning when Seton Hall ventures to Lichtenberg Tennis Center. Matches are set to begin at 10 a.m.
