FULL SCHEDULE

WEST POINT N.Y.--Army swimming and diving head coach Mickey Wender released the women's 2014-15 schedule on Thursday. The competitive lineup, which is highlighted by four home meets, is set to officially begin in mid October.

"We are always at our best at the championship meet," explained Wender. "The focus of our training is to prepare us to peak when it matters the most, at the conference championship. The schedule is a progressive series of challenges that prepare the cadet-athletes for the end result. I think the schedule matches our abilities and potential a lot more than it has in years past. The group of women we have is excited, focused, motivated and ready to keep moving to the next level. It is a great schedule for them and I think we are just going to continue to get better."

Army's swim and dive teams host four meets this season and travel to seven, including two invitationals. The Black Knights host five Patriot League opponents as well as the Army-Navy meet.

The Black Knights face off against themselves in two intrasquad meets in September at Crandall Pool. First is the David Bernstein Challenge on the fifth followed by the Black vs. Gold meet on the 19th.

Saturday, Oct. 18 marks the official start to the season with a 2 p.m. non-conference dual-meet at University of Massachusetts. The Black Knights square-off against Michigan State and the University of Buffalo in a two day tri-meet at Buffalo from Oct. 31 to Nov. 1.

Army returns to West Point with a dual-meet against Iona on Nov. 7 at 6:30 p.m.

The weekend of Nov. 21-23 the team will head to the Boston University Terrier Invitational, while the dive team competes at the Bucknell Invitational.

On Dec. 11, Army hosts rival Navy in a service academy clash at 6 p.m. in the first Patriot League competition of the season. Last year the Midshipmen defeated Army 196-104.

From the end of December into early January the team will once again head down to Fort Buchanan in Peurto Rico for winter training.

"Winter Training will be a final spring board into the finals six weeks and essentially into the Patriot League Championships," explained Wender.  "We are excited to go and have the cadet-athletes commit full-time to just being an athlete, which has been an amazing experience for everybody in the past years. There's around a 30-year history of the team going to Fort Buchanan on a military air flight and training at the Caparra Country Club. It's a great opportunity and something that we are excited to do again."

The Black Knights continue with their competitions when they travel to Lehigh on Jan. 9 and Bucknell on Jan. 10 for back-to-back Patriot League dual-meets.

Jan. 17 marks a Patriot League tri-meet against Colgate and Lafayette hosted by the Black Knights at 1 p.m.

The final home meet of the season will be Jan. 24 when Army hosts American, George Mason and Boston University in a quad-meet at noon. American and BU are both in-conference teams, while George Mason competes in the Atlantic 10 Conference. The Black Knights wrap-up regular season competition at the Bucknell Invitational on Jan. 31st.

The Black Knights will head back to Bucknell, February 18-21, for the Patriot League Championships, and will travel to the yet to be determined Zone Diving Championships site from Mar. 8-11. The women's NCAA Championships will be held from Mar. 19-21 in Greensboro, N.C.
