WEST POINT, N.Y. - Army senior Rachael Duval was among 10 student-athletes named to the Academic Softball All-Patriot League Team in Tuesday's announcement by the league office. It is the second straight year that Duval has been chosen to this elite group team, having been named to the inaugural team in 2011.

Lehigh senior Jennifer Colquhoun was named the Scholar-Athlete of the Year and was one of three Mountain Hawks named to the Academic All-Patriot League Team. All six league schools, Army, Bucknell, Colgate, Holy Cross, Lafayette and Lehigh, were represented.

The awards are voted on by the Patriot League's softball sports information directors, who can't select their own student-athletes. Lehigh's Colquhoun, Julie Fernandez and Rose Roessel, along with Army's Duval and Colgate's Jennifer Ortega, are repeat selections.

To be eligible for the Academic All-Patriot League Team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.2 cumulative grade point average and be a starter or key player in his/her sport. Freshmen or students in their first academic year at the school are not eligible for this honor.

Duval, an Art, Philosophy and Literature major with a 3.202 GPA, has shined on the diamond and in the classroom as a. starter in every game since her arrival her freshman year (2009).

The senior co-captain is Army's all-time leader in games played (215), ranks second in at bats (615) and is tied for that spot in home runs (17). Duval also lists fifth in runs scored (105), sixth in RBI (93), seventh in total bases (241), eighth in doubles (30) and tied for 10th in hits (154).

She also left her name on the school's single-season charts where she lists as high as fifth in runs scored (35), tied for sixth in total bases (84), seventh in home runs (6), eighth in doubles (13) and 10th in hits (55).

Duval played her first two years at third base before moving behind the dish her final two seasons. The four-year letterwinner ripped four doubles along with a home run driving in 18 runs and scoring 18 times this season in helping the Black Knights to a school record 35 wins. She did not make an error in 113 fielding chances in 20 league games.

The native of Auburn, Ga., was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 1 second team in 2010, and has been on the Dean's List six semesters to include the last three.

Duval and her teammates head to the Patriot League Tournament being held May 10-12 at Kaufman Field on the campus of Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa. The second-seeded Black Knights (35-19, 14-6 PL) face third-seeded Colgate (19-26, 12-8 PL) at 2:30 p.m. in Thursday's second round game of the tournament. Top-seeded Lehigh (37-17, 18-2 PL) takes on fourth-seeded Lafayette (13-38, 7-13 PL) in the opening game at 12 p.m.

The double-elimination tournament continues Friday with the winners' game at 11 a.m. followed by the losers meeting in an elimination game at 1:30 p.m. The final game of the day will be played at 4 p.m. between the winner of Game 4 taking on the Loser of Game 3.

The tournament concludes Saturday at 12 p.m. in the championship round with the winner of Game 3 meeting the winner of Game 5. If necessary, a deciding game will follow at 2 p.m. in the battle for the title and automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
