WEST POINT, N.Y. - The Army softball team posted a 4-4 showing at the Rebel Spring Games last week with sophomore right-hander Morgan Lashley leading the way as the pitcher of record in all four wins to earn Army Athletic Association Athlete of the Week honors. She is the first softball player selected this spring, while the citation is her career second.

Lashley posted a stingy 1.86 earned run average compiling a 4-2 mark during Army's weeklong stay in Florida. She pitched 37.2 innings drawing five starts with four completions competing in six of eight games. She fanned 36 batters limiting opponents to a .217 batting average.

The Army hurler, who ranked among the nation's leaders in wins as a freshman last year, posted a pair of victories the first day. Lashley took over in relief in the Wagner decision throwing two-hit shutout ball with seven strikeouts over 3.2 innings in Army's come-from-behind 12-6 victory over the Seahawks.

In the second game that day, Lashley struck out six in going the distance on a four-hit shutout in Army's 5-0 blanking of Robert Morse. In the first day sweep, the native of Davidson, N.C, threw shutout ball over 10.2 innings with 12 strikeouts and issued just three walks in facing 42 batters and limiting them to a miniscule .158 average.

Lashley fanned eight batters, one shy of her career high, in a 10-3 win over Youngstown State, then held off a late rally by Green Bay to preserve a 5-3 victory in Army's final game in Florida.

After getting off to a rough start, Lashley stands 6-7 overall with a 3.69 ERA over 74.0 innings along with 60 strikeouts. She moved into second place on Army's Division I chart with 39 career wins, is third in strikeouts (297) and lists seventh in innings pitched (401).

The Black Knights make their home debut Wednesday hosting Fairleigh Dickinson in a doubleheader with a 3:30 start at the Softball Complex, followed by a pair of twinbills over the weekend. Army is at St. Peter's Saturday and hosts Rider in a doubleheader Sunday afternoon with first pitch at 1 p.m.
