BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Chelsea Kehr smacked a three-run homer in her first at bat and doubled in a run and scored in a four-run third in support of Melanie Russell's five-hit shutout as second-seeded Boston University defeated No. 4 Army, 8-0 in six innings, in a winners' bracket  game of the Patriot League Tournament Friday morning at Kaufman Field.

The Black Knights (23-27) will face the winner of the Lehigh-Bucknell match in an elimination game at 3:35 Friday.

Kehr, who drove in four runs and scored twice going 2-for-3, took a 2-1 count off Army starter Caroline Smith and sent the ball over the centerfield fence driving in Jayme Mask (infield hit) and Brittany Clendenny (walk) with one out in the top of the first inning.

The Terriers padded their lead to 7-0 with four runs on three hits in the top of the third. Kehr doubled home Clendenny who drew a two-out walk for the first run. Kehr scored on Emily Felbaum's RBI fielder's choice with Gabi Martinez (2-for-3) knocking in a pair of runs with her second double of the game.

Boston University forced the game to be called on the eight-run mercy rule after tacking on a run in the top of the sixth on Mask's sacrifice fly.

Russell (11-3) scatted five hits, walked two and struck out six in stranding 10 Army runners. Black Knight runners reached scoring position in all but one of five innings.

Army reached scoring position in the first inning after two outs followiing back-to-back singles by April Ortenzo (3-for-3) and Kasey McCravey, but a poped ended that threat.

In the second inning, Army had bases loaded on a pair of hit basmen and an error, but a strikeout looking got Russell out safely.

Ortenzo led off the third inning with a hit and Savanna Aversa drew a walk with one out, back-to-back strikeouts nipped that rally.

The Black Knights had bases loaded in the fifth with one out,  but a double play ended Army's comeback.  In the sixth, Army had a runner reach third before a flyout ended the game.

Army collected five hits with Ortenzo going 3-for-3 with a double, her 10th of the season.

Snith (12-12) was tagged with the loss in 2.1 innings of work. Kristen West went the final 3.2 innings and was touched for a hit and run.
