WEST POINT, N.Y. - Army completed a doubleheader sweep of Colgate, 4-3 in 13 innings and 5-3, Saturday after rallying from 3-0 deficits in both, with sophomore RHP Morgan Lashley going the distance in 20 innings as the host Black Knights improved to 14-11 overall and 2-0 in the Patriot League.

Senior second baseman's Alex Reynolds (3-for-6) "walk-off" RBI single in the bottom of the 13th inning delivered junior April Ortenzo for the game winner as Army snapped a 3-3 tie in the opener. Trailing 3-2 in the nightcap, Army capitalized on a pair of Colgate errors to push across two of its three runs in the bottom of the sixth to pull ahead 5-3, and Lashley retired three of the four batters she faced in the seventh to preserve the win.

In the opener, Colgate (5-17-, 0-2 PL) used the long ball in the second and third innings to jump out to a 3-0 lead. Army answered with a two-run homer by freshman Kasey McCravey off starter Courtney O'Connell in the bottom of the fifth inning to draw to 3-2 of the Raiders. With one out in that frame, Ortenzo reached on an error by the shortstop with McCravey blasting a home run over the left field fence for her third round tripper of the season.

Army tied the game 3-3 with a run in the bottom of the seventh after capitalizing on a pair of hits and wild pitches, along with a walk, off O'Connell. McCravey led off with a single, moved to second on a wild pitch, third on Reynolds single and scored on a wild pitch. After issuing a walk to Marina Northup, O'Connell gave way to reliever Brigit Leuter who retired the side and stranded two Army runners in scoring position.

Ashley, touched for nine hits, five walks and two strikeouts, closed the door on Colgate throwing shutout ball over the final 10 frames. She yielded five hits over that span and only twice allowed a Raider into scoring position en route to stranding eight runners.

Leuter was just as effective in the circle for Colgate, retiring 16 of the first 20 batters she faced throwing hitless ball and issuing four walks over that span before Army ripped its first hit off her, a one-out single up by middle by Alex Gaff in the 12th, but a double play ended that threat.

Army snapped the tie in the 13th inning collecting two of its three hits of Leuter (2-6). Amanda Nguyen beat out a bunt, but was retired on Ortenzo's fielder's choice. McCravey's fielder's choice moved Ortenzo to second and she raced home on Reynolds game-winning single up the middle.

Lashley continued in the circle in the nightcap, but was touched for a pair of runs in the top of the first and a single run in the second as the Black Knights trailed Colgate for the second straight game, 3-0. Army struck for a pair of runs in the bottom half of the second capitalizing on three hits and a pair of walks off Meghan Carnase (1-5).

Northup led off with a single followed by back-to-back walks to load the bases with RBI singles by Ali Cleinmark and pinch hitter Paige Vallejos delivering the first two runs. A strikeout and back-to-back fielder's choices denied Army the tying run as Carnase left bases loaded.

The Black Knights reached scoring position with a runner at second in the third and runners at second and third in the fifth, but Carnase denied Army both times.

Lashley kept Colgate off the board yielding a hit in each of the next five innings, but little else as the Raiders got into scoring position just twice. After Army went ahead in the bottom of the sixth, Lashley preserved the win in the top of the seventh.

After issuing a single to the leadoff batter, Lashley retired the next three batters on back-to-back swinging strikeouts and a groundout in earning her 12th win of the season and career 45th.

In the go-ahead sixth, Army capitalized on two hits, a walk and back-to-back fielding errors. With one out, Christian McKone drew a walk and moved up a base on Nguyen's groundout.

Ortenzo's single to right field chased home McKone from second base to tie the game 3-3. McCravey beat out an infield hit to move Ortenzo to second base. Reynolds reached on an error by the right fielder allowing Ortenzo to score the tie-breaking run, and McCravey capitalized when the second baseman booted the ball away on the throw in.

Army closes out its four-game series with Colgate Sunday, but the time of the game has been moved up an hour with first pitch at noon. Lehigh swept Bucknell today after splitting with the Bison Friday to show a 3-1 mark, while Holy Cross and Lafayette split their opener today.
