WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - Right-hander Briana Cavin threw a five-hit shutout and Marissa Michalkiewicz ripped a two-run homer in Green Bay's 4-0 defeat of Army at the DiamondPlex Tuesday in the first of two games in the Black Knights' final day of competition at the Rebel Spring Games.

Green Bay jumped on Army freshman hurler Caroline Smith (5-4) for a pair of unearned runs in the bottom of the second inning, then padded its lead to 4-0 keyed on Michalkiewicz' two-run homer in the sixth inning.

Smith (5-4), suffering her first loss in Florida after winning her first two games, yielded four runs on four hits, walked two and struck out two.

Five Black Knighss singled with Alee Rashenskas, April Ortenzo, Smith and Savanna Aversa each going 1-for-3 with Rachael Dehlinger getting the final hit as a pinch hitter in the seventh.

Army threatened with runners at first and second in the fourth and seventh innings with two outs, but a groundout nipped its rally each time.

The Black Knights (8-12) will look to close out their eight-game slate at Florida on a winning note when they take on Buffalo at 4 p.m. today.
