WEST POINT, N.Y. - Highlighted by a 10-game home slate, to include four Patriot League matches, the Army women's soccer team released its 2014 schedule Friday afternoon.

The Black Knights, who put the finishing touches on 2013 by earning a berth and hosting duties for the Patriot League Tournament under head coach Marcia McDermott, have a challenging 18-game slate this fall that include matches against NCAA qualifiers Boston University and St. John's.

After playing a pair of exhibition games at Stony Brook (Aug. 15) and home versus Fordham (Aug. 17) two days later, Army opens the season on Friday, Aug. 22, against a Fairfield team that reached the championship round of the MAAC Tournament last fall. Three days later, the Black Knights host St. John's, who upset No. 9/16 UCF, 3-1, for the program's first-ever NCAA Tournament victory.

Army heads to North Carolina over Labor Day Weekend for a pair of Southern Conference matches against UNCG (Aug. 29) and Davidson (Aug. 31).

The Black Knights will be the home team for three straight contests and four total among six games scheduled during September. Army opens that stretch with a three-game homestand taking on Delaware (Sept. 5), Columbia (Sept. 7) and Seton Hall (Sept. 12). The Black Knights visit Rhode Island (Sept. 14) before returning home to take on Bucknell in their Patriot League debut on Sept. 20.

Army will be the visitor in its next two league matches. The Black Knights take on reigning Patriot League Tournament champion Boston University, whch defeated Harvard, 1-0, in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament, on Sept. 27.

The Black Knights visit conference rival Colgate in a midweek game on Wednesday, Oct. 1, followed by Loyola in a home match three days later on Oct. 4. Then it's back on the road the following week when Army travels to Washington, D.C., to take on American (Oct. 11), who they fell to in a shootout following a 0-0 overtime draw in the quarterfinal round of the Patriot League Tournament.

Army's home game with Princeton on Tuesday, Oct. 14, closes out non-conference play with the four remaining league games split between home and the road.

After visiting Lehigh on Saturday, Oct. 18, the Black Knights have back-to-back home matches against Holy Cross (Oct. 22) and Lafayette (Oct. 25) before heading to Annapolis, Md., for the regular-season finale against Navy on Oct. 31. Army's 2-0 upset over the Midshipmen (who won the regular-season title) at West Pont last year opened the door for hosting duties as the Black Knights moved into fourth place in the conference standings.

This year's Patriot League Tournament format is the same as last year with the top six teams in the conference standings qualifying for postseason play which begins with the quarterfinals on Nov. 4 with the top seed hosting the semifinals (Nov. 7) and championship game (Nov. 9).

The top two seeds will receive a bye to the semifinals while the two quarterfinal matchups will take place at campus sites.
