WEST POINT, N.Y. - Army head women's soccer coach Stefanie Golan announced the hiring on Tuesday of assistant coach Deana Waintraub to her staff.

While she will work specifically with the goalkeepers, Waintraub will be involved in multiple areas of the program to include recruiting, team travel, equipment, and film breakdown. Waintraub spent the past three years holding that same position at Slippery Rock (2009-10) and Catawba (2011).

"I couldn't be more excited about Deana Waintraub, our new assistant coach," said Golan, who closed out her third season capturing the Patriot League title to earn the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

"Deana is a passionate, young coach and I love her approach to working with our goalkeepers. I know she will have an immediate positive impact, and she is hungry to learn and grow as a coach. She has a wonderful personality, a great sense of professionalism, and she will represent West Point extremely well."

The University of Dayton graduate (2009), who played for Team Ontario and trained with the National Team Pool, coached Slippery Rock to a 0.8345 goals-against average and 18 shutouts during her two-year association. Slippery Rock recorded a 14-3-5 mark in 2010 and went on to earn a spot in the NCAA Tournament, defeating West Virginia Wesleyan, 3-1, in a first round game.

After earning her Master's of Education in Physical Education Curriculum and Instruction with a 4.0 GPA from Slippery Rock, Waintraub headed to Catawba. In addition to taking over goalkeeper duties with the Indians, Waintraub coached the North Carolina ODP Team and served as the FCCA Director of Coaching in Rowan County.

Waintraub, who joins Golan and associate head coach Fred Thompson on the staff, enjoyed an outstanding collegiate and academic career. She earned Atlantic 10 first team all-conference honors and first team All-Ohio accolades during her junior and senior years at Dayton, where she received a Bachelor of Science degree with honors in education with a concentration in physical education.

She was named to the University Dean's List, the Athletic Director's Academic Honor Roll, Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll, All-Ohio First Team All-Academic and a Flyers 3.5 Honoree.

Prior to attending Dayton, Waintraub spent her freshman and sophomore years at the University of Louisville. She was selected the BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week, was on the University Dean's List, the Athletic Director's Honor Roll and was a Red and Black Scholar Athlete (GPA 3.5 or above).

At Slippery Rock, Waintraub was a recipient of the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance- Ruth Abernathy Presidential Scholarship for graduate students.

A native of Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada, Waintraub spent her summers playing with the Toronto Lady Lynx W-League Team and the OP Eagles W-League Team.

Waintraub is married to Nicholas Stafford and the couple will reside in nearby Highland Falls, N.Y.
