Win Streak Reaches Three With 58-43 Victory
Sophomore Jen Hazlett and junior Molly Yardley scored 13 and 10 points, respectively, leading a balanced Army effort in a 58-43 win over visiting Manhattan on Wednesday evening in non-conference women's basketball action at Christl Arena.

WEST POINT, N.Y. – With a 7-1 record, Army women’s basketball is off to its best start since the 2000-01 season and will look to build on that mark Tuesday at Manhattan. The Jaspers are 1-5 so far and will face a Black Knight squad which is undefeated (4-0) on the road this season

Army is coming off an impressive 53-47 win over visiting Yale on Saturday afternoon at West Point’s Christl Arena. The Bulldogs entered the game averaging over 70 points per game but were held to a season-low output thanks in part to a season-high five steals by the reigning Patriot League Player of the Week Anna Simmers.

Simmers was joined by Rookie of the Week Kelsey Minato to give Army its first weekly awards sweep in five years and fifth in conference history for the Black Knights.

How To Follow
The game can be heard live on the radio on 1340-AM (Middletown) or 1390-AM (Poughkeepsie), while an audio-only stream will also be available on Knight Vision, Army’s subscription-based service available on www.goARMYsports.com. Army-Manhattan Series
After defeating the Jaspers last season, Army will look to win its first set of back-to-back games against Manhattan since the first two games of the series (1978-79; 1979-80). The Black Knights are 2-4 in games at Draddy Gymnasium, most recently winning in Riverdale, N.Y., in 2008-09. Junior Jen Hazlett is Army’s top returning scorer from the 2011 showdown against the Jaspers, as she tallied 10 points and seven rebounds. Manhattan graduated the vast majority of its scoring from that game, as the Jaspers’ current leading scorer, Monica Roeder, is the top returner from that game after scoring just five points on 2-of-10 from the floor.

Last Time Out
Senior guard Anna Simmers scored a game-high 24 points to lead Army to a hard-fought 53-47 win over visiting Yale on Saturday afternoon at Christl Arena. Simmers sparked both the Army offense and defense as the Black Knights held the Bulldogs, who entered the game averaging 70 points per game, to a season-low scoring output. Along with her 24 points, Simmers added seven rebounds and a game-high five steals, the most by a Black Knight since Feb. 25, 2012, to bump Army to a 7-1 record and drop Yale to 1-6. Army’s 7-1 mark is its best start since the 2000-01 season when the Black Knights began with a 10-1 clip. For the full box score and recap, click here.
