WEST POINT, N.Y. - The Army women's basketball team is back at Christl Arena to host Navy in the annual "Star" Game on Saturday, Feb. 8. The match-up features the top two teams in the Patriot League, with the Midshipmen in front of the Black Knights by 1.5 games. The Patriot League contest is set to begin at 1:30 p.m.

Army moved to 16-5 overall and 8-2 in the conference after getting past Loyola, 56-45, in overtime on Feb. 1. Sophomore Kelsey Minato scored a game-high 18 points, while classmates Aimee Oertner (13 points) and Jean Parker (10 points) also reached double figures.

Navy Shoots Past Army, Hands Black Knights First PL Defeat
Sophomore Kelsey Minato finished with a game-high 25 points for the Army women's basketball team during a 74-64 Patriot League setback to service-academy rival Navy on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Hall.

THE ARMY-NAVY SERIES
Saturday will mark the 62nd meeting between Army and Navy, with the Midshipmen holding a 31-30 advantage in the series that dates back to 1981. The Black Knights are 13-15 versus the Midshipmen at West Point, but Army won the last meeting at Christl Arena on Jan. 20, 2013 (53-42). In "Star Games," Army owns a 15-10 edge over Navy, with the Black Knights currently on a one-game winning streak when playing for the "Star."

LAST TIME OUT
Army trailed by 10 points in the first half for the second time this season against Loyola before rallying for a 56-45 overtime victory over the Greyhounds on Feb. 1. The Black Knights outscored the Greyhounds 14-3 during the extra session, while hitting 4-of-5 from the field and 4-of-4 from the free-throw line in the period. Army's defense held Loyola shooters to a 31.3 percentage from the field, and limited the Greyhounds to just eight points in a paint, marking the lowest total Army has allowed all season. Minato netted 18 points while adding five rebounds, three assists and three steals, while extending her double-digit scoring streak to 37 games. Minato scored seven of Army's 14 points in overtime, including a three-pointer and four free-throws. Oertner finished with 13 points, seven boards, three blocks and three steals, and Parker added 10 points and five rebounds off the bench.

UP NEXT
The Black Knights will continue their five-game homestand when they take of Holy Cross on Wednesday, Feb. 12. Tip-off for that contest is scheduled for 7 p.m.
