Army Hosts Drexel In Home Opener Thursday

WEST POINT, N.Y. - The Army wrestling team resumes its dual match schedule on Thursday, Dec. 6, when the Black Knights host the Drexel University Dragons at Gillis Field House. The non-conference dual is slated to get under way at 6 p.m.

A live video streamed broadcast of Thursday's match will be available via Knight Vision, Army's subscription-based multimedia platform. Twitter updates will also be offered through the official handle of Army wrestling (@Army_Wrestling).

Army (1-2) enters Thursday's action fresh off a 24th-place showing at the Cliff Keen Invitational. Junior 165-pounder Paul Hancock placed seventh and senior 149-pounder Daniel Young finished eighth to lead the Black Knights at the prestigious tournament.

Hancock, who boasts a perfect 3-0 mark in dual matches, currently leads Army with a 14-5 overall record. He went 5-2 at last weekend's Cliff Keen Invitational en route to his seventh-place showing.

Young, who leads the Black Knights with six bonus-point victories, ranks second on the team with a 13-10 overall record. He authored a 4-3 mark en route to his eighth-place finish at last weekend's Cliff Keen Invitational.

Drexel (3-4) carries a two-match win streak into Thursday's showdown versus Army. The Dragons knocked off VMI (24-14) and Colonial Athletic Association rival Hofstra (22-16) last weekend. Drexel's win over Hofstra was its first since 1997.

Army and Drexel have met 12 times previously, and the Black Knights hold a 7-5 lead in the all-time series. Army won last year's meeting, taking a 26-12 decision from the Dragons in Philadelphia, Pa.

Thursday's dual match versus Drexel serves as Army's final competition of the 2012 calendar year. The Black Knights will ring in 2013 at the Southern Scuffle in Chattanooga, Tenn., on Jan. 1.
