NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The ITA East Regional Tennis Championships get underway on Thursday morning, as the Army men will send senior captain Alex Holland, junior Asika Isoh and freshmen Harrison McCormick and Austin McCasin to compete in the toughest test of the fall season. Yale will serve as the host of the four-day event, which will produce qualifiers for the USTA/ITA Indoor National Championships.
Isoh qualified for the singles main draw, while McCasin and McCormick will battle for a spot in the qualifying bracket. Isoh and McCormick are paired in the main doubles draw, while Holland and McCasin will also team together.
In Thursday’s qualifying matches, McCormick, who shows a 3-5 record this fall, will face Monmouth’s Ramy Bekheit, while McCasin (4-3) will face Bryant’s Dana Panzialle. Isoh will open main-draw action on Friday against Monmouth’s Freddy Marcinkski.
In doubles play, Isoh and McCormick (4-4) will face Princeton’s Matt Siow and Dan Davies, while Holland and McCasin will square off with Harvard’s Denis Nguyen and Kevlin Lam. Holland and McCasin have not yet played together this season.
For the full draws, see the links above.
Isoh went 1-1 in singles and 2-1 in doubles, alongside classmate Henry Jang-Milsten, at last season’s ITA Regionals, while Holland only competed in singles and collected a 1-1 mark in the qualifying bracket.
Following this weekend’s play, Army will travel to Boston, Mass., for the Harvard Halloween Invite, Oct. 28-30, for its second-to-last tournament of the fall season.
