CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Seven members of the Army men’s tennis squad and four players from Army women’s tennis were named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll this week. To be eligible for the spring Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade-point average in the spring semester and participate in one of the Patriot League’s winter or spring fall championship sports.
The seven certificates by the Army men’s team are the most in program history. Included in the group were two-time honorees Andrew Clark (economics, 3.502), Chad Llewellyn (life science, 4.33) and Pete Williams (operations research studies, 3.296). Llewellyn was one of six on the men’s list to garner a GPA of 4.0 or above.
Men’s newcomers Peter Sienko (undeclared, 3.369) and Alex Van Velzer (undeclared, 3.303) joined sophomore Rommel Verano (Portuguese, 3.303) and recent graduate Dan Shaffer (engineering management, 3.433) as the other Army academic leaders recognized by the conference.
For the women, junior co-captains Erin Colton (systems engineering, 3.204) and Larraine Saavedra (engineering psychology, 3.481) were named to the honor roll. Colton, who was also tabbed in 2011, was joined by sophomore Jamila Paul (life science, 3.298) as Army’s two-time honoree. Freshman Alyssa Gleason rounded out the women’s honor roll recipients, garnering the team’s best GPA with a 3.81 mark.
