WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army men’s tennis will return to Patriot League play on Saturday when it hosts conference rival Colgate in its lone contest of the weekend. The match is slated for a 1 p.m. start at Lichtenberg Tennis Center. The Black Knights will be in search of their 11th straight win against a league opponent.

Army (10-9, 2-0 PL), the 2011 regular season and tournament champions, swept its first two Patriot League opponents this season with 7-0 decisions over Lafayette and Holy Cross on Feb. 26. In their most recent match, the Black Knights fell to regional power Yale, 7-0, at Lichtenberg last Sunday. Army is 7-3 on its home courts this season, with two of those losses coming against Ivy League opponents.

Colgate (7-7, 0-1 PL) is coming off a 7-0 setback to Navy in its conference opener on March 24. The Raiders finished 1-4 in Patriot League play last season for fifth place, with a loss to Bucknell in the conference quarterfinals ending their season.

Army and Colgate have met 63 times since the series began in 1925, with the Black Knights owning the 46-15-2 advantage. Since Army head coach Jim Poling came on board in the fall of 2002, the Black Knights have gone 10-2 against the Raiders. Army earned a narrow 4-3 win at Colgate last season, as the teams have traded wins in each of the last five meetings.

Following Saturday’s match, Army will remain at home to host NJIT on Wednesday. The first serve against the Highlanders is slated for 3 p.m.
