WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army men’s tennis will lift the lid on its dual-match schedule this weekend with matches against No. 56 Arkansas on Friday and Oral Roberts on Saturday. Both matches will be played at the Razorbacks’ Dills Indoor Tennis Complex in Fayetteville, Ark., with the first serve on Friday scheduled for 11 a.m., and Saturday at noon. UA enters the weekend 4-1, while the Golden Eagles sport a 0-3 mark.

The Black Knights went 16-13 a season ago for their highest win total since 2008, but came up short in the Patriot League title match against Navy, 4-1. Army has faced Arkansas once previously, in the 2005 season opener when the Razorbacks were ranked 20th in the ITA poll. UA won that match, 5-2. The Black Knights contest against ORU on Saturday will mark the first meeting between the two programs.

Army last faced a ranked team during the regular season in the 2011 conference championship campaign, when the Black Knights fell at No. 45 Columbia, 6-1, and at No. 71 Penn State, 5-2.

Army enters its 94th season of men’s tennis under the direction of 11th-year head coach Jim Poling. Poling is 145-106 over the past 10 seasons at West Point, with the Black Knights averaging over 14 wins per season under the veteran mentor and advancing to the Patriot League Championship match every year.

Army boasts a trio of All-Patriot League players on its roster from a season ago, including conference Player of the Year Asika Isoh. Isoh has 27 dual-match wins at No. 1 singles through his first two seasons at the Academy. The junior completed the 2012-13 tournament schedule with a 6-7 record for the second-most wins on the team behind freshman Harrison McCormick who went 7-8. Isoh and McCormick teamed on the doubles court for a 5-8 mark.

Following this weekend’s matches, Army will begin a 10-match homestand at Lichtenberg Tennis Center starting on Feb. 9 against Stony Brook. The match against the Seawolves will be the first of a weekend tripleheader which will include contests against Connecticut and Vassar as well.
