WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army men’s tennis defeated Sacred Heart 7-0 Saturday afternoon at Lichtenberg Tennis Center. The Black Knights scored their second consecutive 7-0 sweep in what was just their second meeting all-time with the Pioneers. The match was the second of four matches for Army this weekend.
Army (6-2) swept all three doubles matches from SHU (3-5) before capturing all six singles contests as well. Freshman Harrison McCormick and junior Asika Isoh won at No. 1 doubles, 8-1, before winning their respective singles matches, while senior Rashad Shelton and junior Henry Jang-Milsten also collected a pair of victories on the afternoon.
Freshman Benjamin Davies played in just his second career dual match and maintained his undefeated record, scoring a straight-set win, 6-4, 6-1, at No. 6 over Jeremy Shuskus.
Army will conclude its busy weekend with a pair of matches on Sunday, beginning with Quinnipiac at 9 a.m., and followed by Monmouth at 5 p.m. The Bobcats show a 2-4 record, most recently topping Connecticut 5-2 on Friday night, while the Hawks are 1-2 and coming off a 5-4 win over Division III Philadelphia on Friday.
