WEST POINT, N.Y. – Sprint football junior quarterback Javier Sustaita collected his second conference honor of the season on Tuesday after being named the College Sprint Football League Offensive Player of the Week. For the second week in a row, Sustaita was responsible for eight touchdowns, leading the Black Knights (5-1, 5-0 CSFL) to another CSFL victory and ensuing recognition.

Sustaita threw for a career-high 411 yards and seven touchdowns in a 58-44 win against Penn on Friday night at West Point’s Shea Stadium. The junior completed 67-percent of his passes (29-43) without throwing an interception, marking the third consecutive game he has not been picked off. Sustaita also rushed for 56 yards and a touchdown, extending his streak of rushing for at least 50 yards and at least one touchdown in a game to three contests.

Penn has been a favorite opponent of Sustaita’s over the past two seasons. The Troy, Texas native has tallied 12 touchdowns and over 850 yards of total offense and while not throwing an interception in two career games against the Quakers.

Sustaita’s CSFL honor stretched Army’s consecutive weekly awards to six in 2011. The Black Knights have garnered certificates following every game this season, including two by Sustaita (Offensive, Weeks 6 and 7), two by junior wide receiver Cody Nyp (Offensive, Weeks 3 and 4), and one apiece by senior wide receiver Ben Johnson (Special Teams, Week 5), senior defensive back JP Cooper (Defensive, Week 6), and sophomore wide receiver Tom Jeffers (Offensive, Week 1).

Army’s win over Penn last week pushed the Black Knights to a 5-0 record in CSFL contests, marking this Friday’s game against academy rival and fellow undefeated team Navy as the conference championship match. The Black Knights and Midshipmen have decided the CSFL title in the final game of the season for the past three seasons, including 2010’s 32-30 Army victory in Annapolis. The Black Knights will be in search of their 32nd CSFL title.
