The Army sprint football team hits the road for the first time this season on Saturday, Sept. 28, to face Franklin Pierce for a 12 p.m. Collegiate Sprint Football League contest in Ashburnham, Mass. The meeting will be the first between the Black Knights and the Ravens, as Army kicks off a three-game road swing.

Army (2-0 overall, 2-0 CSFL) is coming off a 38-6 victory over Post on Friday, Sept. 20, during which the Black Knights gained 302 yards of total offense while forcing three interceptions. Junior quarterback James Wartski has completed 39-of-65 passes (60.0 percent) for a CSFL-best 553 yards while tossing six touchdowns and one interception. Freshman running back Marqus Burrell has run for 100 yards and two scores on 26 carries, and freshman receiver Lane Holmes has hauled in seven catches for 153 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Senior Patrick Franco paces the Black Knights with 20 tackles, while classmate Dylan Doty has 12 tackles and an interception return for a touchdown. Sophomore punter Mark Dabeck was named the CSFL's Special Teams Player of the Week this week after punting five times for 246 yards against Post. Dabeck averaged 49.2 yards per punt and had a long punt of 55 yards in the game.
Franklin Pierce (1-1, 1-1) picked up its first CSFL win last week, as it topped Cornell, 13-6. The Ravens are led by reigning CSFL Offensive Player of the Week, sophomore D.J. MacDonald, who has compiled 172 yards on the ground and has 54 yards receiving for two touchdowns. Freshman quarterback Ryan O'Kelly has thrown for 166 yards and three touchdowns in a pair of starts. Sophomore James Willette has a team-best 17 tackles and three tackles for losses for Franklin Pierce.
Following their initial meeting with Franklin Pierce, the Black Knights will battle Cornell in a road contest on Friday, Oct. 4. Army earned a 38-14 decision over the Big Red in last season's game at West Point.
