2013 Schedule

WEST POINT, N.Y.  – The reigning 2012 College Sprint Football League champions of Army have announced its 2013 schedule as the Black Knights will play a seven-game season this fall. In addition to its usual opponents, Army will begin a series with recent CSFL addition Franklin Pierce, which played a five-game season last fall to test the waters of sprint football.

The Black Knights, who finished the 2012 campaign with a perfect 7-0 record, will look to keep the undefeated streak alive when they open the 2013 season against Penn on Sept. 13 at West Point’s Shea Stadium. Army last began a season at home in 2009 when the Black Knights shutout Fairleigh Dickinson 29-0.

Army will remain at home for its second game when the Black Knights host Post on Sept. 20. Army defeated the Eagles 63-28 a season ago at the Allegiance Bowl in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., to improve to 2-0 against its newly added foe.

The Black Knights will spend the following three weeks on the road, beginning with the inaugural meeting with Franklin Pierce on Sept. 28. Army will then travel to Cornell on Oct. 4 before wrapping up the road portion of its schedule at Mansfield on Oct. 12.

Army will play its final two games at Shea Stadium, beginning with Princeton on Oct. 18 before wrapping up with rival Navy on Oct. 25.

Army and Navy have closed out the year in each of the last 30 seasons, having faced off a total of 73 times since 1957. The Black Knights bested the Midshipmen in Annapolis, Md., last season 21-18, to clinch their 32nd CSFL title in program history.

“We’re excited about our 2013 schedule,” said Army head coach Lt. Col. Mark West. “It’s a great opportunity to defend our title. We’re looking forward to establishing a new series with Franklin Pierce, and we’re especially looking forward to hosting Navy. It’s a bye week for the Division I Army football team, so we’re hoping to draw a large crowd that night.”

All Friday night games (Penn, post, Cornell, Princeton, Navy) will kickoff at 7 p.m., while the Saturday games (FPU, Mansfield) have 1 p.m. start times.
