Frank Nucaro enters his fifth season as an Army assistant after 30 years of high school football coaching experience. He has spent the previous 16 years at Valhalla High School in New York, serving 12 years as an offensive and defensive lines coach before being promoted to head coach in 2006.

In his first season as Army's defensive coordinator the Black Knights held opponents to 17.5 points per game, compared to Army's 37.3 scoring average. The Army defense held opponents to just 68 rushing yards per game, while tallying 15 sacks over six games. The Black Knights had a pair of cadets earn first-team All-CSFL honors in linebacker Carlos Cook and lineman Eric Kanney, while LB Bryan Girouard, LB Eric Shirley, DL Toby Acosta and DL TylerBambrickall earned second-team plaudits.

At Valhalla, Nucaro helped lead the Vikings to three sectional championships, two sectional finals, four league championships and an undefeated state championship season in 1996. Most recently, he was named 2009 League Coach of the Year after leading the Vikings to a league championship with an 8-1 record.

Nucaro resides in Valhalla with his wife Paula and has two daughters, Alyssa and Dana. He is a physical education teacher at Roosevelt High School in Yonkers, N.Y.
