WEST POINT, N.Y. - Army sophomore goalkeeper Winston Boldt was tabbed Army Athletic Association Athlete of the Week for the second time this year after tying his season high with seven saves in Army's 1-1 draw versus service academy rival Navy on Sunday.
The second-year keeper from St. Louis, Mo., recorded two of his seven stops in overtime as the Black Knights withstood a furious Navy effort in the extra time to salvage a tie and earn a point in the Patriot League standings. Several of Boldt's saves came on shots from point-blank range, including an incredible stop on a shot from eight yards out late in the first overtime period.
Boldt, who has started each of Army's nine matches this fall, is in the midst of a solid sophomore season. He enters Saturday's tilt versus American boasting a 1.63 goals-against average and .700 save percentage to go along with two shutouts.
Army (2-6-1, 0-1-1 PL) will look to halt a six-game winless streak on Saturday, Oct. 6, when the Black Knights host American at 7:30 p.m. The contest will mark Army's first home match since Labor Day.
