WEST POINT, N.Y. - Army junior forward Trent Brown, who helped propel the Black Knights men's soccer team to a pair of wins last week, picked up Army Athletic Association Athlete of the Week honors Monday morning.
Brown is the first men's soccer player to earn AAA Athlete of the Week plaudits since Chris Conklin shared the award with cross country runner John Mickowski near the end of the 2007 campaign.
The native of La Crosse, Wis., scored a goal and assisted on junior Josh Koeppe's game-winning tally in Army's 2-1 win over Holy Cross on Saturday night. Brown, who finished the week with four points, also assisted on freshman Devin Perlee's game-winning marker in the Black Knights' 2-1 come-from-behind victory at Bryant last Tuesday.
Brown's big week vaulted him into the team lead with six points (two goals, two assists).
The Black Knights (4-5-0, 1-0-0 PL) begin their busy October schedule on Saturday, Oct. 1, when they travel to Annapolis, Md., to face service academy rival Navy in a pivotal Patriot League showdown. The Star Match, which will be contested at the Glenn Warner Soccer Facility, is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.
