CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - The Army men's soccer team was honored by the Patriot League on Friday for its work in the classroom last semester as 10 Black Knights were named to the conference's Academic Honor Roll.

Army senior Mitch Johnson, who was named to the Academic Honor Roll for the fourth year in a row, led the Black Knights' 10-man contingent. The Mechanical Engineering major registered a 3.853 GPA during the fall semester.

Seniors Michal Fiuk and Brennan Randelwere both recognized by the league for a third time. Fiuk, an Economics major, posted a 3.175 GPA in the fall. Randel, who also majors in Economics, earned a 3.549 GPA last semester.

Sophomores John Marinelli and Winston Boldtwere both named to the Academic Honor Roll for the second time in their careers. A Physics major, Marinelli, recorded the highest GPA among Army men's soccer players with a 3.953. Boldt, who majors in Portuguese, earned a 3.676 GPA.

Marinelli (3.616) and Boldt (3.678), who both posted outstanding marks in their first semester at West Point, have still not declared a major.

Junior Jason Lewis, sophomores Kyle Golonski, Sean Mogan and Vince Kennedy, and freshman Cameron Niccumwere all first-time selections to the honor roll. Lewis, who studies German, registered a 3.289 GPA. Golonski, an Engineering Management major, posted a 3.238 GPA. Mogan, who majors in Economics, authored a 3.541 GPA. A Management major, Kennedy earned a 3.447 GPA. Niccum, who has yet to declare a major, finished the semester with a 3.214 GPA.

The list of 98 student-athletes on the Academic Honor Roll also boasts nine of the 11 members of the Academic All-Patriot League team for men's soccer that was released in November.

Bucknell led the 2012 list with 16 selections, followed closely behind by American with 15. Patriot League champion Lafayette was next with 13 on the honor roll, followed by Lehigh (12), Colgate (11), Holy Cross (11), Army (10) and Navy (10).

To be eligible for the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade-point average during the semester of their sport's competition.
