Final USILA Coaches Poll

WEST POINT, N.Y. - On the heels of recording the program's most wins since 2011, the Army lacrosse team closed out the 2014 campaign ranked No. 20 in the final United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Coaches Poll. The Black Knights spent the last six weeks ranked in the national listing, and continued to receive votes in the Warrior Media Poll on Monday.

Army ranked as high as No. 15 in the USILA Coaches Poll in 2014 and remained nationally ranked following an 18-17 setback at Atlantic Coast Conference champion and fifth-ranked Notre Dame last Saturday in South Bend, Ind. The loss moved the Black Knights to 9-5 on the season with all five losses coming by a single goal and three happening against fellow nationally ranked clubs. Behind a 7-1 mark, Army finished second in the final Patriot League standings.

In addition to its USILA national ranking, Army currently boasts the third-ranked scoring defense in the country, yielding 7.21 goals per game. A staunch Black Knights defense held its first 12 opponents of 2014 to single-digit goals.

The Black Knights graduate nine players later this month. That group includes Tyler Kamide, Bobby Sincero, John Burk, Zeric Butters, Alex Carros, Kevin Epp, Nate Gustafson, Pat Hart, Nick Isnardi, David Tarsa.

Under the direction of 2014 Patriot League William Lawson Coach of the Year Joe Alberici, Army will return greater than 90 percent of its offense for 2015, including first team All-Patriot League attackman and Tewaaraton Award nominee John Glesener. The Camillus, N.Y., native totaled a career-high 43 goals to rank fourth on Army's single-season goals list. His 3.07 goals per game currently rank fifth in the NCAA. Also returning are all-league honorees Alex Daly (first team) at the face-off and rising senior goaltender Sam Somers, who leads the nation in goals-against average (5.
