WEST POINT, N.Y. - Junior attackman John Glesenerdazzled with a career-high six-goal effort in the Army lacrosse team's season finale at No. 5/5 Notre Dame on Saturday. His standout performance garnered a pair of weekly awards on Monday, as he picked up Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week and Army Athletic Association Athlete of the Week.
Glesener's Patriot League honor marked his second of the season, while he earned AAA honors for the first time this year.
A Tewaaraton Award top 25 nominee, Glesener tied a game-high and recorded a career-best six goals against the Atlantic Coast Conference champion Fighting Irish. Five of his six goals came in the first half, including two extra-man tallies, as he finished one point shy of tying a career-high in points with seven. He helped Army score the most goals (17) against a Notre Dame team since 2004.
Last Saturday marked a fourth-straight hat trick for Glesener and the 15th of his career. He has started all 14 games of the season, was a first-team All-Patriot League pick and finished the year with a career-high 43 goals to land tied for fourth on Army's single-season goals list.
