CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Fresh off one of its best performances of the season in an Easter Sunday win at Colgate, the Army lacrosse team picked up three of four Patriot League weekly awards on Monday afternoon. Sophomores John Glesener and Sam Somers earned Offensive Player of the Week and Goalkeeper of the Week plaudits, while senior tri-captain Brendan Buckley garnered Defensive Player of the Week honors.

All three had a hand in the team's best all-around effort in the 10-4 victory - the program's first against Colgate in Hamilton, N.Y., since 2006. The Black Knights, now 6-3 overall this season, registered their second Patriot League win and moved into a tie with Colgate for third place in the conference standings.

Glesener exploded for a career-high five goals and led all players with six points (1A) in the victory. His five goals came on 12 shots, while he also netted Army's final three goals of the game. The Camillus, N.Y., native registered his fourth-straight hat trick and has scored 16 goals in the last four games alone. Glesener's 42 points lead the Patriot League, while he ranks sixth nationally in points per game (4.67).

Buckley and Somers played integral roles in Army's staunch effort on the defensive end. Buckley marked reigning Tewaaraton Award winner Peter Baum of Colgate all afternoon and held him without a point for the first time in 54 games. A preseason All-Patriot League pick on close defense, Buckley's 16 caused turnovers lead the team and rank 27 in the NCAA.

Following a standout performance in which he was named Hungriest Player of the Game by CBS Sports Network, Somers earned his second career Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week award on Monday. The Wilton, Conn., native made 13 saves and allowed just four goals - his second lowest goals-against average of the season - in the win. In reaching double-digit saves for the third time this year, he made six saves in the second quarter and four in the fourth frame to help preserve the win. Somers added a career-high five ground balls to the box score. He now leads the nation with a 6.46 goals-against average and ranks third in the NCAA with a .623 save percentage.

Army returns to Michie Stadium in search of its fourth home win of the season when the Black Knights host No. 7/6 Bucknell for a Patriot League showdown this Saturday, April 6, at noon.
