Warrior Media Poll

WEST POINT, N.Y. - Fresh of back-to-back Patriot League wins over Lehigh (6-5) and Bucknell (11-6), the Army lacrosse team jumped into the top 20 of both national polls on Monday. The Black Knights come in at No. 18 in the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Coaches Poll and break into the Warrior Media Poll for the first time this season at No. 20.

Army, which has won three of its last four games, earned a No. 20 ranking in the USILA Coaches Poll last week.

The Black Knights' 11-6 victory over visiting Bucknell last Saturday at Michie Stadium moved them into sole possession of second place in the Patriot League standings with a 4-1 conference record. Loyola, ranked No. 1 in both national polls as of Monday, tops the league with a 5-0 mark. The Greyhounds handed Army its lone league loss of the year, a 7-6 decision on March 15 in Baltimore, Md.

No. 19/16 Colgate rounds out three Patriot League teams currently ranked in the nation's top 20. Lehigh is receiving votes in both polls.

In addition to its national rankings, Army continues to lead the NCAA in scoring defense, yielding 5.56 goals per game. Junior goalie Sam Somers also ranks No. 1 in the nation with a 5.44 goals-against average. The Wilton, Conn., native comes in third with a .615 save percentage.

Looking to extend its win streak to three games, Army visits Patriot League newcomer Boston University this Saturday, April 5. The historic first meeting is set to face-off at noon at BU's Nickerson Field. Fans can watch the game free online through the Patriot League Network or follow along with GameTracker (live statistics).
