WEST POINT, N.Y. - The Army hockey team will hold its annual Black and Gold Scrimmage on Saturday, Oct. 5, but this year will feature a new twist as Movie Knight follows at Tate Rink. Fans are encouraged to stay after the scrimmage to take part in an open skate with Army players as one of the sport's most popular movies, "The Mighty Ducks," plays on the state-of-the-art Tate Rink video board.

The Black and Gold scrimmage is slated to begin at 3:30 p.m. and be followed by Movie Knight at 5 p.m. Fans in attendance are welcome to take part in an open skate with the Black Knights' players while enjoying the 1992 hit film.

"We have some of the best fans in college hockey," said 10th-year Army head coach Brian Riley. "Our guys relish any opportunity to interact with those who turn out to watch us play, especially the younger fans, and thank them for their loyal support of our program. This will be a great event and one we all look forward to hosting."

The team returns 10 of its top 11 scorers from a year ago, including alternate captain Mac Lalor (6G, 12A) and AHA All-Rookie Team selection Joe Kozlak (7G, 10A). Riley and his staff brought in an impressive group of nine freshmen for this season, while Kozlak headlines a talented group of 12 sophomores. Senior Brian Schultz will serve as team captain and Lalor and fellow junior Josh Richards were selected as alternate captains.

The Army hockey season gets underway on Oct. 11 when the Black Knights visit Penn State for a Friday night affair. The team will play 14 home games at Tate Rink, beginning with a Nov. 2 Atlantic Hockey Association meeting with Bentley. Other home opponents include service-academy rival Air Force, Holy Cross, Sacred Heart, Canisius, Mercyhurst, American International and Connecticut. Lauded as one of the top venues in the region, the Black Knights played in front of six sellout crowds at Tate Rink a year ago.
