WEST POINT, N.Y. - A robust 18 regular season home games, including exhibition bouts against the Russian Red All-Stars and Royal Military College, highlight the 2014-15 Army hockey schedule, released Monday afternoon. Along with non-league tilts against Providence, Brown and Princeton, the Black Knights are set for 29 regular-season Atlantic Hockey Association tilts leading up to the 2015 conference playoffs.

The annual Black-Gold Game gets the 2014-15 slate underway. The scrimmage at Tate Rink is open to the public and set for Saturday, Oct. 4. From there, the Black Knights officially open the regular season with seven-straight home games, beginning with three AHA weekend series.

On-sale dates for season, single-game and group tickets will be forthcoming. Puck drop for all home games is 7:05 p.m. with the exception of a Sunday, Oct. 12, date with Sacred Heart (3:05 p.m.).

"This season's schedule shaped up very nicely for us," said Army head coach Brian Riley, who enters his 11th season at the helm. "Playing the first seven games at Tate Rink in front of a home crowd is a tremendous opportunity. I know our guys are already itching for Oct. 10. The stage is set for a quick start, and one that we're hoping will carry over into the rest of the season."

Army opens the season against Sacred Heart, a team the Black Knights beat in the early going of 2013-14. The Black Knights host the Pioneers for Opening Knight Friday Oct. 10 and conclude the home series on Sunday, Oct. 12. Army's home stint continues over each of the following two weekends as the team hosts Canisius (Oct. 17-18) and Robert Morris (Oct. 24-25) before closing out the month with its first non-conference contest versus Brown (Oct. 31). Army came away with wins against both Canisius and defending AHA champion Robert Morris during last season's run and will welcome Riley's alma mater, Brown, to Tate Rink on Halloween.

The Black Knights' first away weekend will be Nov. 7-8 at Mercyhurst. The team returns home for a No. 14-15 series opposite Holy Cross before heading back out on the road for the remainder of the month. Among the stops are Niagara (Nov. 21-22), Providence (Nov. 25) and Bentley (Nov. 28-29).

Army follows up a busy first two months with a lighter December, as West Point quiets down for TEES (Term-End Exams) and the holiday break. The team's lone three games will be played at home, starting with a Dec. 5-6 series against Mercyhurst. The month concludes with an exhibition meeting with the Russian All-Stars on Tuesday, Dec. 30.

The Black Knights usher in 2015 with a home-and-home weekend series against American International. Army will host the Yellow Jackets on Jan. 2 and visit Springfield, Mass., Jan. 3. A Jan. 9 meeting with AHA foe Connecticut precedes the Black Knights' Jan. 16-17 trip to service-academy rival Air Force. The military theme stretches into the next weekend as well, as Army welcomes Royal Military College for a chance to defend the Challenge Cup on Jan. 24 at Tate Rink.

A non-league tilt at Princeton, the first meeting since 1998-99, on Jan. 27 begins a five-game road swing that includes AHA visits to RIT (Jan. 30-31) and Canisius (Feb. 13-14). Army's final regular-season weekend series at Tate Rink will take place Feb. 20-21 when the team hosts Bentley. A home-and-home weekend series with AIC rounds out the Black Knights' regular season schedule. Army travels to Springfield, Mass., on Feb. 27, before hosting the Yellow Jackets for Senior Knight on Saturday, Feb. 28.

The AHA playoffs will begin March 6 with a first-round series, followed by the quarterfinals beginning March 13. Blue Cross Arena in Rochester, N.Y., will once again host the semifinals on March 20 and championship game on March 21. The AHA Tournament champion earns the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
