Mercyhurst Shuts Out Army, 2-0

WEST POINT, N.Y. -Ben Cottreau and Dave Borrelli each scored a goal and Andy Franck made 15 saves as Mercyhurst shut out Army, 2-0, in front of 1,561 fans at Tate Rink on Friday night.

Treye Kettwick made 30 saves in goal for the Black Knights (3-4-1, 0-2-1 Atlantic Hockey), but it was not enough for the hosts to overcome the visiting Lakers (2-5-0, 1-0-0).

Cottreau got Mercyhurst on the board with an even-strength marker at 13:18 of the first period. Borrelli extended the lead to 2-0 in the second stanza with a goal at 7:45. From there, Franck and Kettwick matched save for save.

Mercyhurst head coach Rick Gotkin picked up his 300th career win in the process.

The Lakers outshot the Black Knights, 32-15.

Army continues its homestand Saturday night with a 7 p.m. faceoff opposite Atlantic Hockey rival Canisius College.
