WEST POINT, N.Y. - Holy Cross avenged a 5-2 Friday night loss to Army with a 2-0 victory on Senior Knight Saturday at Tate Rink. The Black Knights entered the game locked into the No. 12 seed in the upcoming Atlantic Hockey Association playoffs and learned they will face No. 5 Robert Morris in the opening round this weekend in Pittsburgh, Pa.

Army and Robert Morris will begin a best-of-three series on Friday, March 7, at 84 Lumber Arena. The Colonials swept the Black Knights during the regular season series, Jan. 31 and Feb. 1, in Pittsburgh.

On Saturday night at sold-out Tate Rink, the Black Knights honored four senior members of the Army Hockey Family - senior captain Brian Schultz, former player Mike Santee and team managers Stephen Bartkowski and Houston Carlson.

Schultz had Army's two best scoring chances of the night, the first on a second-period breakaway and the second on a third-period wrap-around shot that could not get past Holy Cross goaltender Matt Ginn. The junior net minder made 27 saves in the victory.

The Crusaders held a 33-27 edge in shots and got goals courtesy of Tim Driscoll in the opening period and Shayne Stockton later in the third. Army sophomore Joe Kozlak took a game-high six shots with four other players registering three attempts on goal.

Fresh off a career-best 45-save effort in Friday night's road win, freshman goaltender Parker Gahagen made 31 stops for the Black Knights.

The teams combined to go 0-for-9 on the power play as Army took six penalties on the night.

The Crusaders opened the scoring with Driscoll's goal 5:35 into the action. More than 43 minutes of scoreless hockey would ensue before Holy Cross' insurance goal came courtesy of Stockton 11:02 into the third period. Army head coach Brian Riley pulled Gahagen with just under two minutes to play, but the Black Knights could not solve Ginn down the stretch.
