WEST POINT, N.Y. - Bentley used a five-goal second period to erase a 1-0 deficit and collect a 6-1 victory over Army in the first game of an Atlantic Hockey Association home-and-home series Friday night at Tate Rink. Freshman C.J. Reuschlein accounted for the Black Knights' lone goal, scored less than five minutes into the Valentine's Day contest.

After Reuschlein's goal got Army (3-23-0, 3-19-0 AHA) on the board first for the second home game in a row, but the Black Knights would give up six unanswered as the Falcons walked away with a road victory. The teams will conclude the regular-season series tomorrow night at Bentley (15-10-4, 13-5-4 AHA).

"You have to play for 60 minutes against a team with as many weapons as Bentley," said Army head coach Brian Riley following the game. "I liked the way we came out in the first period, but we let a couple of soft plays turn into odd-man situations in the second. You can't make mistakes like that. We need to put this one behind us in a hurry and look at tomorrow night as another opportunity to play for a win."

The Black Knights outshot the Falcons in the first period, but ended up losing that battle 36-22 for the game. Bentley went 2-of-5 on the power play and got 21 saves from goaltender Branden Komm.

Army won the face-off showdown, 34-26, and held a 13-8 advantage in blocks.

Rookie Tanner Creel made a career-high 30 saves in his fourth collegiate start for the Black Knights.

Army took an early 1-0 lead on Reuschlein's goal 4:41 into the contest. The Flint, Mich., native drove the puck through traffic from just inside the blue line and put the home team on top. Sophomore center Joe Kozlak and senior captain Brian Schultz earned assists on the play.

Bentley came out of the intermission hot, scoring four goals in a 3:49 span midway through the middle period to establish a 4-1 lead on the Black Knights. A power play goal late in the period gave the Falcons a 5-1 cushion at the second intermission.

Bentley tacked on a power play goal at 11:09 of the third to seal its second-straight victory.

The Black Knights and Falcons close out the regular-season series in Watertown, Mass., tomorrow night. Face-off at Ryan Arena is set for 7:05 p.m. Fans can watch the game via www.americaonesports.com (subscription fees apply).
