A look at what players do after practice

Eric Lang, a four-year head coaching veteran and four-year letterwinner, is in his first season as a volunteer assistant coach with the Army hockey program.

Lang spent the previous three seasons as the women's head coach at Manhattanville while coaching the Valiants' men's program in 2011-12 A 1998 graduate of American International College, Lang is familiar with the Atlantic Hockey Association having spent two seasons as an assistant at his alma mater after four seasons on the ice.

"We are excited to add Eric to our staff," said Riley. "His credentials are excellent. He knows our conference, knows how important academics are, is beginning to understand West Point and is an excellent on-ice instructor and recruiter."

Lang joins Trevor Large and Mike Warde as Army's assistant coaches. Large spent two seasons coaching at AIC as well when he earned his master's degree and is in his fourth season at Army.

In addition to his on-ice work, Lang will have a hand in video analysis and off-ice duties.

During his three seasons with the Manhattanville women's program, Lang led the squads to an NCAA Tournament appearance, won 58 games and guided the team to a #8 ranking in the final uscho.com Division III National poll of the year. In his final season with the women's program, Lang posted a 19-8-2 record, led the squad to an ECAC East Tournament title and had a league-best 11 players named to the ECAC All-Academic Team.

In his second season as head coach, Lang guided the Valiants to a 19-7-1 record despite just nine upperclassmen on the roster. The team won the ECAC East Conference regular season championship and defeated two nationally ranked opponents.

While in his first season as a head coach, Lang put together a 20-7-0 record, a top seed n the ECAC East Conference Tournament and helped Holly Nonis to second-team All-America and conference player of the year honors.

As the men's head coach in 2011-12, Lang guided the squad to a 13-9-3 mark and a berth in the ECAC West Tournament.

Prior to his appointment at Manhattanville, Lang spent two seasons at AIC where he conducted video analysis and film breakdown of opponents and worked with the defense and power play units.

Lang was a four-year letterwinner at AIC and earned his degree in Psychology in 1998. He later secured his masters in Organizational Development from AIC. A two-time captain, he was honored with the ECAC Merit Medal and the school's Henry Butova Leadership Award. He scored 25 goals and handed out 34 assists during his career.

Lang has also worked for the National Hockey League as an off-ice official where he assisted in game scoring and analysis and was the head hockey coach for Byram Hills High School in Armonk, N.Y., for four seasons.

Lang and his wife Christine have a daughter, Addison Grace, and a son, Eric James, and reside in White Plains, N.Y.
