NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Army's Brian Lee tied for fifth place in the individual event finals on still rings with a score of 9.5 at the 2004 Men's U.S. Gymnastics Championships Wednesday evening, while competing against some of the nation's best gymnasts at the Gaylord Entertainment Center in Nashville, Tenn.
One of the few gymnasts competing individually instead of as an all-arounder, Lee qualified for the Men's U.S. Gymnastics Championships based on his second-place finish at the qualifier.
The senior-to-be tied with Temple's Nyika White for fifth place on still rings, missing the cut by two spots as only the top three advance. Two-time defending U.S. all-around champion and current world all-around champion Raj Bhavsar captured that still rings competition with a 9.7. He also won the national title on parallel bars (9.8) en route to finishing fourth (56.10) in the all-around prelims.
