WEST POINT, N.Y. - Army's 13th-ranked gymnastics team has an important date this weekend in Annapolis, Md., as part of the field competing at the Eastern College Athletic Conference Championships hosted by Navy at Macdonough Hall.

Six schools will vie for the ECAC title and automatic bid to the NCAA Championships Friday at 4 p.m. while the top eight in each of the six events advance to Saturday's individual finals beginning at 2 p.m.

Ranked second to No. 12 William & Mary among the six conference schools, Army is in the hunt for its first ECAC title since 2005. The Black Knights have a 421.117 national average and 415.995 mark in conference matches trailing the Tribe who show a 423.45 national mark and 420.175 conference average. Host Navy is third in the conference showing a 414.633 national ranking and 411.811 conference one.

Rounding out the rest of the field is No. 16 Illinois-Chicago (404.033/401.617), No. 17 Springfield (403.717/402.494) and No. 18 Temple (402.317/408.800).

It could be a close battle in the top half of the field with Army showing the top team mark in floor exercise (71.2), vault (71.935) and high bar (69.405) and second-best on parallel bars (67.935). William & Mary is ranked first in the remaining three events showing a 69.925 on pommel horse, 71.583 on still rings and 69.625 on parallel bars, along with the second highest averages on floor exercise (70.538) and high bar (69.194).

Navy could prove to be a spoiler in the meet as the Midshipmen have the second highest averages on pommel horse (67.694), still rings (70.983) and vault (70.406) along with the third highest on floor exercise (69.133), parallel bars (67.861) and high bar (66.194)

The Black Knights have several gymnasts who will be vying for individual titles. Sophomore Jesse Glenn is a top contender for the all-around title and high bar. He is ranked first in the conference in the all-around scoring with an 86.550 and is coming off a winning performance at the USAG Championships, which included William & Mary, Navy, and Springfield.

On high bar, Glenn is ranked fourth nationally with a 15.175 average and is first in the ECAC with a 15.3 mark.

Senior Kip Webber is second on vault in the conference and 13th nationally with a 14.983 average with a personal best 15.45. The multi-event performer is also ranked third on still rings with a 14.85 average, while Connor Venrick and Chris Short are Army's highest ranked individual event performers listing fourth on pommel horse (14.4) and parallel bars (14.2), respectively.

In addition to Glenn on high bar, Army has four others among the top 10 in Sam Kusnitz, Leo Genders, Jeremy Cahill and Michael York.

William & Mary has the top ranked individual on pommel horse, still rings, vault and parallel bars.

Army is coming off a third-place finish (414.6) at the USAG Championships, hosted by Navy last week. Air Force defended its title with William & Mary finishing runner-up (422.75) with Navy (403.1) and Springfield (403.1) rounding out the collegiate field.

Glenn claimed five All-American honors following a first in all-around, runner-up on high bar, third on parallel bars along with a pair of fifth-place finishes on floor exercise and pommel horse. Webber and junior Alex Ganz also garnered USAG All-America honors following a second on vault and fifth on parallel bars, respectively.
