ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Senior Kip Webber's quest to be among the top 10 to advance to the individual event finals of the NCAA Men's Gymnastics Championship came up short in Friday's preliminary round at the University of Michigan's Crisler Arena.

Webber, Army's school record holder on vault, advanced in his signature event following Thursday's prequalifying session. His hopes of continuing forward into Saturday's individual finals came up short Friday evening after scoring a 13.95.

The top ten finishers in each of the six events in the preliminary round advance to Saturday's individual finals to vie for the NCAA crown with eight awarded All-America status.

Host Michigan defended its title with a team score of 445.05 followed by Oklahoma (441.65), Stanford (436.3), Illinois (435.35), Ohio State (433.5) and Penn State (429.8).
