WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army golf team will continue its spring season, Monday and Tuesday at the Triumph at Pauma Valley in California.
The Black Knights will send five golfers to compete as a team and two individuals at the 54-hole event in Pauma Valley, Calif., at the par-71, 7,007-yard Pauma Valley Country Club.
Play begins with 36 holes on Monday and concludes with an 18-hole final round at the nine-team event. In addition to Army and the host University of San Francisco, the field includes BYU, Bowling Green, UC Riverside, George Washington, the University of British Columbia, Manitoba and Dominican.
Senior Matt Philie, juniors Anthony Kim, Harrison Florence and Brandon Baerwaldt and freshman Marcus Plunkett will comprise the team.
Sophomore Robby Hill and freshmen Brandon Roberts will compete as individuals.
Army opened its spring season with a sixth-place finish at the Gary Freeman Invitational in Ormond Beach, Fla., Feb. 18. Plunkett tied for 17th, Florence tied for 29th and Baerwaldt tied for 31st. Roberts (45th) and Hill (54th) also competed.
Kim and Philie will play in their first events of the spring season.
Following the Triumph at Pauma Valley, Army will compete at the Wildcat Invitational April 1 and 2 in Malvern, Pa.
