HAMILTON, N.Y. – The Black Knights shot a 15-over-par 591 through the first 36 holes and sit in fourth place with one round to play at the Colgate Invitational presented by Steelberry at the Seven Oaks Golf Course. Sophomore Eric Peng paced the Black Knights with three-over par 147. Peng enters the last 18 holes tied for 11th.
The Black Knights finished the first two rounds ahead of Patriot League rivals Bucknell, Lafayette and Colgate. Defending champion Youngstown State is in first place at +5 (581) with Binghamton (+8, 584), Lehigh (+11, 587) and Army (+15, 591) rounding out the top four.
Peng fired a 74 over the first 18 and wrapped up the day with a 73. Freshman Justin Pagila made his collegiate debut with a 76, but rebounded in the second round to shoot an even par 72 and move into a tie for 14th at five over par.
Sophomore Marcus Plunkett was tied for 47th after shooting an 80 in the first round, but the defending Patriot League Rookie of the Year roared back with a three-under 69, the best 18-hole score by any player, to jump into a tie for 16th at five over par. It was just one shot of his career-best round and marked the fourth time in his collegiate career he shot a round of even par or better.
