ANN ARBOR, Mich.  - William Park shot a one-over-par 72 as play concluded at the second day of the NCAA Ann Arbor Regional, Friday at a sun-swept U-M Golf Course.

Park, coming off a 77 on Thursday, is at 149 for the championship and tied for 46th. He will tee off for his final around at 9:50 Saturday morning.

A senior from Chapel Hill, N.C., Park collected two birdies, three bogeys and 13 pars during his round on Friday at the par-71, 6,723-yard layout.

"Will played great all day," said second-year Army golf coach Brian Watts. "He hit 11 fairways and 12 greens.  He got back into a good rhythm today. We had a good warm up session prior to his round and he just took it one shot at a time. When the opportunities came, he took advantage. He fired at a few more flags today and gave himself a lot of birdie opportunities. Unfortunately, he missed a few putts, but he played well."

The University of Southern California leads the team race at 561 following a 272-team total on Friday. Oregon, TCU and Kent State are one stroke back while Virginia is fifth (568) and Notre Dame sixth (569).

Albin Choi of North Carolina State and Julien Brun of TCU share the individual lead at 135.

The NCAA Ann Arbor Regional features 10 individuals and 13 teams. The low five teams and the low individual not on an advancing team will move on to the NCAA Finals at Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles, Calif. The NCAA Finals are comprised of the low 30 teams and six individuals not on qualifying teams from six regional sites.

Park, who practiced little due to his academic commitments, opened his second round on the back nine and promptly posted three consecutive pars. He secured a birdie 3 on the 321-yard par-4 13th hole but stayed even after a bogey 4 on the next hole. Four straight pars gave Park a 35 on his first nine holes. He shot a 37 during Thursday's round.

"Will's strength is his driver, that's why I though the golf course set up well for him," said Watts. "Thursday he only hit five fairways and made two bad swings. He has played some really good golf and managed his golf ball really well the last two days."

Two straight pars was how Park began his second nine holes. He took a bogey 6 on the next hole, posted a par on No. 4 and gave another stroke back on the 222-yard par-3 5th hole with a 4. He registered three straight pars and for the second day in a row, ended his round with a birdie. Friday, it was at the 414-yard 9th hole.
