BETHLEHEM, Pa.  - Marcus Plunkett was named Rookie of the Year and Robby Hill and Brandon Baerwaldt earned all-league honors as Army finished third at the Patriot League Championship, Sunday at Saucon Valley Country Club.

Plunkett placed second and became just the second Army golfer to earn Rookie of the Year plaudits. Hill and Baerwaldt both placed in the top-10 to collected second-team all-league honors. It is the first Patriot League honor for all three golfers.

"Congratulations to Marcus, Robby and Brandon," said Army golf coach Brian Watts. "They fought back and were able to finish in the top-10."

Army finished third as a team, shooting a 915 over 54 holes. Host Lehigh won the event and earned the Patriot League's automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament with an 898. Navy was second at 905. Bucknell finished fourth (929), followed by Lafayette (948), Holy Cross (950) and Colgate (965).

"We knew we needed to get off to a good start in order to put pressure on the teams in front of us," said Watts. "Unfortunately, we struggled early and were never able to do that. But, the team battled back on the back nine. This will be a learning experience for the team and hopefully we can grow from that. Hopefully, the guys will come back next fall ready to play as our tournament schedule gets tougher."

Plunkett fired a final round three-over-par 75 and finished second by a stroke over Chris House of Navy at 220. Plunkett earned first-team all-league accolades and joins Matt Philie as the only two Army Rookies of the Year.

Hill came through with a 76 in the final round and tied for sixth with a 227. Baerwaldt played his way onto the second team by shooting a 75 on Sunday and tying for ninth. Both Baerwaldt and Hill improved by two spots where they started the final round.

Army now has a league-best 62 All-Patriot League selections, including 50 first-team honorees.

Brandon Roberts tied for 32nd after shooting an 82 on Sunday and a 246 for the championship. Harrison Florence was one stroke behind Roberts and tied for 35th. Philie shot an 80 on Sunday and placed 39th.
