WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army football team has played all over the world. In 2016, the Black Knights will get a chance to compete in San Antonio, Texas, against Notre Dame.

Army will play Notre Dame on Saturday, Nov. 12 at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. Kickoff will be at 7:30 p.m. and the game will be carried live nationally by NBC.

“We are excited to take our football team to the great city of San Antonio,” said Army Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Boo Corrigan. “San Antonio has a large military presence and it will be great to showcase our cadet-athletes.”

Army will be Notre Dame’s opponent as part of the Irish’s Shamrock Series.

Army has only played at the Alamodome once, in 2006 when the Black Knights were the home team in a narrow 28-24 loss to Texas A&M in the AT&T Corps Classic.

Army and Notre Dame first met on the gridiron in 1913 and haven’t competed since a 27-3 Irish victory in 2010 at Yankee Stadium.

The Black Knights have played the Irish on 50 occasions with Notre Dame holding a 34-8-4 advantage in the historic series.

“It’s great to have Notre Dame back on our schedule,” said Corrigan. “Army has a tremendous history with Notre Dame and it’s wonderful to see this college football matchup back on. Every time we have played in Texas, we have received tremendous support and this is another opportunity to play in front of our fans who may not be able to make it to Michie Stadium. Texas remains vital to our recruiting interests and it’s important that we continue to compete in that great state.”
