Baggett, Kime Named All-Independent First Team

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army junior running back Terry Baggett was a unanimous selection and was joined on the first team by senior offensive lineman Michael Kime as the 2013 FBS All-Independent Team was announced today. Voting was down by a national media panel that is responsible for choosing the FBS Independent Player of the Week awards.

Baggett, from Chicago, Ill., was one of four players named on every ballot.

Sophomore kicker Daniel Grochowski and junior offensive linemen Ryan Powis and Stephen Shumaker were honorable mention selections.

Baggett rushed 141 times for 1,113 yards this season, an average of 7.9 yards per carry. He scored on a 96-yard touchdown run and torched Eastern Michigan for 305 yards. Baggett scored eight touchdowns and averaged 92.8 yards per contest. He also caught six passes for 123 yards, an average of 20.5 yards per reception.

Kime, the team’s offensive captain from Zionsville, Ind., helped pave the way for an Army rushing attack that was among the nation’s best from his tackle position. Army averaged 311.8 rushing yards per contest and 389.8 yards of total offense per game. Kime (left tackle), Powis (center) and Shumaker (left guard) started all 12 games this season on the offensive line, as did Zach Reichert (right guard) and Justin Gilbert (right tackle).

Grochowski, from Sarasota, Fla., converted all 37 of his point-after touchdown attempts and was 8-of-11 on field goal attempts. He was second on the team in scoring with 60 points. Grochowski kicked a long field goal of 48 yards and averaged 58.2 yards on 48 kickoffs.

Powis, from Midlothian, Va., and Shumaker, from Milford, Conn., joined Grochowski as honorable mention choices.
