TOWSON, Md.  – Army running back Terry Baggett was a first-team choice and linebacker Thomas Holloway a second-team selection when the 2013 Capital One Academic All-America Division I football team was announced. The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) selects the honorees.

It is the first Academic All-America selection for both players and marks the second time in the last three years Army had two players honored after Andrew Rodriguez and Zach Watts in 2011.

“We are extremely proud of Terry and Thomas for all they do on and off the field,” said Army Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Boo Corrigan. “Their drive to succeed, hard work and dedication is certainly reflective in this honor. These two young men are true leaders of character and an example for all to follow.”

Baggett is one of two running backs on the first team joining Zach Zenner of South Dakota State.

Baggett, a junior from Chicago, Ill., is a Chemical Engineering major with a 3.44 grade-point average. He leads the team with 1,072 rushing yards and has eight touchdowns. He lists among the nation’s leaders in rushing yards, yards per game (97.5) and yards per carry (8.2).

Baggett has carried 130 times this season for the country’s second-ranked rushing offense.

The 24 members of the 2013 Capital One Academic All-America® Division I Football first team have an average 3.78 G.P.A.

Holloway, a linebacker/safety, is a senior captain from Birmingham, Ala., with a 3.65 GPA in International and Comparative Legal Studies. He will join the Military Intelligence branch of the U.S. Army upon graduation.

Despite missing seven games, Holloway leads the team with 59 tackles, including 32 solo stops. He has 2.5 tackles for loss, one sack, one interception and recovered a fumble.

The 114th Army-Navy Game presented by USAA is set for Saturday at Lincoln Financial Field. CBS will carry the game live to a national audience beginning at 3 p.m.

Baggett, Holloway, Hayden Tippett and Joe Drummond were all selected All-District in November, placing them on the national ballot for Academic All-American honors.
