TEAM NOTES:
Saturday’s contest between Army and Connecticut marked the fifth time the two teams have met overall, and the second time the squads have battled at Rentschler Field. Connecticut’s 21-7 victory is its fourth straight over Army, and the Huskies now lead the all-time series, 4-1. Connecticut is 2-0 all-time versus Army at Rentschler Field.
Connecticut’s 21-7 victory over Army extends the Black Knights’ losing streak against Big East Conference foes to eight straight, dating back to a 37-35 Army win over Rutgers in 1997.
With today’s 21-7 setback to Connecticut, Army’s all-time record versus Big East Conference opponents falls to 44-60-2.
Army won the time of possession battle for the 13th time in the team’s last 17 games. Today, the Black Knights possessed the ball for 30:52 compared to 29:08 for Connecticut.
OFFENSIVE NOTES:
Army QB David Pevoto connected with WR Jeremy Trimble for a 61-yard completion early in the fourth quarter. The play marked the longest career completion for Pevoto, as well as the longest career reception for Trimble.
Army QB David Pevoto’s 16-yard rush late in the fourth quarter established a new career-long rush.
Army QB David Pevoto set a new career high with 155 passing yards.
Army TE Justin Larson scored his first career touchdown, hauling in a three-yard touchdown reception from David Pevoto in the fourth quarter.
Army TE Tim Dunn set new career highs with six receptions and 35 receiving yards.
Army WR Jeremy Trimble set a season high with 75 receiving yards.
Army WR Jeremy Trimble made three receptions today, moving the junior into sixth place on the Black Knights’ all-time receptions list.
Army WR Walter Hill had three catches today, moving him into ninth place on the school’s all-time receptions ledger.
DEFENSIVE NOTES:
Connecticut RB Terry Caulley’s 98-yard touchdown run marked the longest run allowed by Army since yielding a 77-yard touchdown run to East Carolina’s Leonard Henry on Oct. 14, 2000.
SPECIAL TEAMS NOTES:
Connecticut WR Larry Taylor’s 72-yard punt return touchdown marked the first punt return touchdown allowed by Army since Louisville’s Damien Dorsey returned a punt 81 yards for a touchdown on Sept. 21, 2002.
Army P Owen Tolson tied his career high with eight punts today. He also had eight punts versus Connecticut last season (Oct. 1, 2005).
